What is the process for getting a dental crown?
Dr. Bercovitch uses CEREC technology to provide dental crowns in a single visit. You don’t need to mess around with impressions or temporary crowns, and you don’t need to find time in your busy schedule to come back for a second visit.
After thoroughly numbing your mouth, he prepares your tooth for the crown by removing part of the outer layer. This allows the crown to fit over your tooth and sit flush against your other teeth.
Using the CEREC equipment, he digitally scans your tooth and the surrounding area and designs your dental crown. Finally, he uses his in-office milling equipment to make your dental crown while you wait, usually within an hour.
When your crown is ready, Dr. Bercovitch places it on to your tooth and checks the fit and your bite — the way your teeth come together when you close your mouth — before permanently bonding it to your tooth.
How should I take care of my dental crown?
Caring for dental crowns is easy. You brush and floss them just like natural teeth. While crowns are resistant to decay and discoloration, you still need to have routine dental check-ups so Dr. Bercovitch can monitor your overall dental health and keep any remaining natural teeth healthy.
